Mission Statement

The Parkinson's Recovery Project has two primary objectives:

  1. Education
  2. Charitable work

Education Goals

  1. To make widely and freely available the results of our research and theories on Parkinson's disease. Our research covers the following areas: the cause of idiopathic Parkinson's disease, effective treatment plans for effectively treating Parkinson's disease using Asian medicine, and new findings about the medications of Parkinson's disease based on our own medications research project.
  2. To offer classes/workshops in these techniques.

Charitable Goals

  1. Maintenance of a website so that written materials about theory and techniques of Asian medicine in the treatment Parkinson's disease can be available via the internet for free . The technique classes are subsidized so that they can be offered at the lowest possible cost.
  2. When possible, we underwrite a class in techniques used in treating Parkinson's disease at Five Branches Institute, College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (a non-profit corporation). This three-semester class is only offered to senior (4th year) students at the Institute. Parkinson's patients in this class, selected from the local (Santa Cruz) Parkinson's community, are treated for free. The class provides training for students at the college and for visiting practitioners as well as being a source of research material. This class was offered from 1998 to 2002. The class could not be offered from 2003 to 2005. Availability of staffing and funding will determine when this class can be offered again.
  3. Provide free email technical support for practitioners who have questions about the techniques (to the extent that volunteers and/or donations make it possible).

The Parkinson's Recovery Project is a non-profit corporation. It does not provide names of health practitioners who are interested in this work. It does not provide a referral service. E-mails requesting names of practitioners who have successfully treated patients will not be answered. Our mission is simply an educational and charitable one.

The Parkinson's Recovery Project is a non-profit corporation, incorporated in the state of California. Our non-profit status has been approved by the United States Internal Revenue Service. Donations to the Parkinson's Recovery Project are tax deductible and are greatly appreciated.
